Confessions Of A Readings Junkie...
I guess I was hooked with my first reading. I was in my late thirties or perhaps just forty, when a friend told me about a woman who was a card reader—and who was really excellent. By about the fifth time I was told about her I finally paid attention and thought, "oh, maybe I should go see her and see what this is all about."
During that reading, she read my future by placing down playing cards, listening to a voice that spoke to her and describing pictures that came to her within her mind. And she told me things about myself and my loved ones that a stranger just isn't supposed to know. Then she gave me really sad news, news that one doesn't want to hear or know about. I paid her, and then put my copy of the notes she gave me away—for many years. I didn't return to her or to anyone for another reading, until one day the terrible news came true, in exactly the way she had described it to me.
After that event, I had lots of time to myself. Time to think and explore the why of how such a thing can happen. How can we know of events before they've happened? I had studied metaphysics all my life. For years at my workplace I had learned to be very careful about what I said to my co-workers about their lives and interests, for I realized in my early twenties, that I often knew things about people before they shared that information with me. I knew who had good marriages, and who didn't. I knew when promotions were coming through and for whom. I also knew how many of the companies I worked for were doing and inherently knew when I needed to leave, because things were going sour and they weren't going to bounce back. But I never equated what was happening to me, (which I just referred to as my intuition) as any real psychic ability.
After that first reading came true, I became fascinated with learning everything I could about the psychic realm and how people were using their psychic abilities, and thus, how I could use my psychic ability. Could I "grow" this ability, could I become more psychic with use and direction? The answer became a definite yes. I found out that everyone can develop their psychic abilities with use, proper direction and patience. In this search I had many readings from many different psychics and began to uncover the various "spiritual languages" that different psychics use. Everyone reads a little differently, some people use playing cards, others taro and various decks, like Angel and Goddess decks. Some people simply channel spiritual information (actually all readers are channelers of one type or another), because that's what a reading does—it accesses the information about everything in the Universe also known as the Akashic records (or Universal Ring), and is picked up in our subconscious and then brought into our conscious minds. Spiritual guides, teachers and masters assist us in understanding this information. They bring it through into each person’s individual symbolic language through spiritual hearing (clairaudience), vision (clairvoyance), knowing (claircognizance), feeling, smell and touch (clairsentience).
I discovered that the best readings blended the past, present and future to give you a good picture of where you are on your path, and show you options and possibilities—for the future. When people naysay readings, I point not only to the accuracy of the very first reading that I had, but I've also had terrific specific hits—like when my bungalow in Hawaii was described very accurately to me and I had no idea I would be going there. (I dug that reading out 1 1/2 years later, upon returning from Hawaii to verify the information foretold to me so long before.) My trip to Bali was predicted by a reader, then I said to Spirit that if they wanted me to go to Bali Spirit would simply have to bring the trip to me (I wasn’t going to chase this trip down because I was told about it in a reading). And two months later that's exactly what happened, Spirit dropped the trip to Bali right in my lap without me having to do anything except pay for it. I've also had specific illness predicted that occurred with no warning, but exactly as predicted.
Of course there have been portions of readings that don't happen, or more often those that do happen but with a slightly different twist to them. Bear in mind that even the best readers are seeing and interpreting through their own screens and perceptions. Staying really clear and without personal prejudice is something that all good readers continually work on. And I no longer put a lot of faith on time frames of readers, sometimes they are very accurate, sometimes they are years—even decades off the mark.
And remember, you've still got to live your life. No matter what someone else tells you, you still have to live your life your own way. That's our greatest gift here, to exercise our free will. But I look at having a reading as, being able to go through life with a bit of a road map in front of you, but the map is a little faint from being in the glove compartment for years with coffee stains on it, wrinkled, ripped and repaired. It’s a little hard to interpret. But with a good reading under your belt, you have more direction, and you may be shown some different routes, some possibilities that you hadn't thought about yourself before. You may even see an entirely new destination!
I still have a copy of my first reading. Sometimes I wonder why I keep it, but I really do know why it’s still in my files. That copy keeps me honest. When I doubt that any of this psychic stuff actually works (and yes, even I have days when that happens, a day when I have no idea where I am going or when I can't pick up one thing about anyone), I pull out my first reading with the terrible prediction that happened to me and my family and I fully realize that we are not alone, and that God can, and does give us messages for our insight, growth, protection and spiritual unfoldment. We just need to pay attention.
